Maness Family Scholarship Fund
Mabre Maness and Michael John Maness, his son, were long-time residents of Mt. Pleasant. Mabre and Michael were alike in their intellectual curiosity, thoughtfulness, and integrity. Both were independent thinkers able to accept the views of others with tolerance and respect. Both valued education and continually sought out new learning experiences. Above all, both Mabre and Michael understood that though there are many ways to get there, everyone deserves the chance to succeed. The Maness Family Scholarship was established in Mabre and Michael’s memory to recognize a graduating senior from Mt. Pleasant who has demonstrated perseverence and courage in overcoming obstacles.
