Fisher Company Community Impact Fund

The Fisher Companies Community Impact Fund was created in 2015 as a means to give back to the local community, without placing any restrictions on which charities can receive support.

Combined, the Fisher Companies and Fisher Families have provided countless years of service and support to our local community. Through the creation of this fund, both will be able to ensure that this legacy of community support lives on into the future. “We take great pride in being able to contribute to this great community in which we live and work,” said CEO Kyle White. “Our hope for the Fisher Companies Community Impact Fund is to be able to provide support to a wide-variety of community needs.”

Ralph J. Fisher Sr. and his wife, Zelda, founded the Fisher Companies in 1925 with the start of their first business, Fisher Sand and Gravel, in Midland, Michigan. In the decades that followed, Ralph and Zelda’s sons: Arthur, James, and Ralph “Bud”, would purchase and continue to grow the business that their parents had established. Ultimately, they would develop the Fisher Companies until, combined, they formed a 400-employee operation with an annual volume of over $100 million.

First, the brothers founded Central Concrete Products (Mt. Pleasant) in 1955. The company provides ready mix concrete, sand and gravel, as well as construction supplies and services, to the Mid-Michigan area. Then, in 1957, they founded Fisher Contracting (Midland), which provides construction and heavy civil contractor services to a variety of clients in the Great Lakes Region. In the years that followed, six more related companies would be founded throughout Mid-Michigan. Fisher Transportation (Mt. Pleasant) was founded in 1970, and provides heavy-haul transportation services. Next was Central Asphalt (Mt. Pleasant) in 1982, which is a hot mix asphalt producer and paving company. In 1983, Bay Aggregates (Bay City) was founded and is a supplier of quarried stone products to the Mid-Michigan area.  Midland Engine (Midland) was founded in 1984, and is a high-end machine shop and heavy equipment dealer. In the summer of 2000, Bucks Run Golf Club (Mt. Pleasant) opened its doors on the site of a former Fisher Sand & Gravel Pit and is now an award-winning, championship golf course.  In 2013, Port Fisher Terminals (Bay City) was founded and operates as a multi-modal port site, offering vessel, rail, and highway transportation services. Fisher Construction Aggregates (Mt. Pleasant) rounds out the Fisher suite of companies, which was founded in 2016 and operates as a gravel-mining operation. Community is very important to the Fisher Companies and Fisher Families. For decades they have given their time, talents, and resources to improve our community. Through the creation of this fund, they will continue to give back to this great community for years to come.
